Canadian Navy dives-in to encourage Halifax residents to help protect Canada's environment TORONTO, Sept. 11 /CNW/ - WHAT: To kick start this year's nationwide cleanup event and encourage residents to participate in a local cleanup on September 15th, divers from the Canadian Navy's East Coast Fleet lead by HMCS Fredericton will be diving into Halifax Harbour in search of harmful debris and aquatic litter. The results promise to be an eye opener. The TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup was created by the Vancouver Aquarium and has been operating for more than 12 years. All data collected around items found on the shorelines is tallied and shared with the international community.
