Media Advisory - TD Canada Trust reveals the winners of one of Canada's top community leadership scholarships

OTTAWA, May 5 /CNW/ - Join TD Canada Trust to honour 20 of Canada's most
impressive high school and CEGEP students as they are awarded the prestigious
TD Canada Trust Scholarships for Community Leadership. Now in its 14th year,
the 2009 scholarships will be awarded to students who have shown leadership
through their work in a variety of areas including environmental stewardship,
the promotion of social justice and supporting new immigrant families.
One of the top scholarship programs in Canada, the TD Canada Trust
Scholarships for Community Leadership awards students full post-secondary
tuition, $7,500 per year toward living expenses and an offer of summer
employment at TD Canada Trust for up to four years - a total value of up to
$70,000 each.
A few of the initiatives this year's winners have led, include starting
an intramural cricket league to help integrate young immigrants into the
school community, inventing an eco-friendly passive solar panel tracking
system, and reviving a Spanish-language newspaper to preserve Latino culture
in the North.

achievements and outstanding contributions in communities
across Canada.

one-on-one interviews.
