Pride Toronto Warmly Welcomes TD Canada Trust as a Major Returning Sponsor
TD returns as a Partner Level Sponsor and the Official Bank of Pride Week 2007 TORONTO, June 15 /CNW/ - Pride Toronto is thrilled to once again receive support from returning sponsor TD Canada Trust, now in their third year as a major Pride Week partner. In addition to being the official bank of Pride Week, TD Canada Trust is the lead supporter of Pride Toronto's Volunteer program, which is the heart and soul of Pride Week. Pride Week requires 1,200 volunteers in order to run its events and festivities. Pride Week is the largest arts and culture festival in Canada, and one of the three largest Prides in the world. Drawing over one million people to the streets of Toronto, a recent study by Festivals and Events Ontario showed that after the CNE, Pride Week is the most recognized festival in Ontario. The study also showed that the Pride Parade Day, the last Sunday of Pride week, is the best attended single day event in Canada. TD Canada Trust is sponsoring the Pride Street Festival's main music stage, running this year from June 22-24. The stage will be located on Wellesley Street East, between Yonge and Church streets and will be branded the TD Canada Trust Wellesley Stage. Musical performers will include Martha Wash, the powerhouse behind the legendary disco anthem It's Raining Men, the Indigo Girls, DJ Lady Miss Kier from the groundbreaking trio Deee-lite and many more. For a complete listing of performers, dates and times visit www.pridetoronto.com. TD Canada Trust will also be sponsoring a float in the Pride Parade on Sunday, June 24. The float is in support of the CanStage TD Dream in High Park production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. The TD Pride Network, made up of employees, family and friends, will also be marching in the parade. "TD is proud to once again be a major supporter of Toronto's Pride Week and the official bank of Pride Toronto. This year promises to be another fantastic event and we're thrilled to be involved," says Suellen Wiles, Senior Vice President GTA Region, TD Canada Trust. "Expect to see many TD employee volunteers at various Pride Week events both lending a hand and having a great time too." The Church/Wellesley branch and Yonge/Carlton branch of TD Canada Trust will be open on Saturday June 23 to serve the large number of people who attend Pride Week. TD Community Giving: Making a Difference Together Children's health, literacy and education, and the environment are the three primary areas of focus for TD's community giving. The major flagship programs within these areas are: TD Children's Hospital Fund, TD Friends of the Environment Foundation and the TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, TD Canadian Children's Book Week, TD Canada Trust Scholarships for Community Leadership, and the TD Summer Reading Club. In addition, through the support of our customers and employees, TD is involved with a host of national, regional and local programs in support of diversity, arts and culture and other causes. In 2006, TD donated $33 million to more than 1,600 charities and not-for-profit organizations across Canada.
