TD Canadian Children's Literature Awards Celebrate Authors in English and French Canada with a Total Award Value of $60,000
MONTREAL, Oct. 9 /CNW/ - TD Bank Financial Group (TDBFG) and the Canadian Children's Book Centre (CCBC) are pleased to announce the 2007 finalists for the TD Canadian Children's Literature Award. For the third consecutive year, this prestigious award and one of Canada's largest literary prizes offered for children's literature will honour the most distinguished book of the year for children aged one to 13. The winning English and French authors of the 2007 TD Canadian Children's Literature Award will each receive $20,000. The remaining finalists will share a $10,000 award. The French language awards ceremony will take place in Montreal on Thursday October 25. The French language finalists are: Le Chat du Père Noé Frisson l'écureuil Editions Hurtubise HMH Editions Scholastic Author: Daniel Mativat Author and Illustrator: Mélanie Watt Les Enfants de l'eau Hush ! Hush ! Editions de l'Isatis Editions Hurtubise HMH Author: Angèle Delaunois Author: Michel Noel Illustrator: Gérard Frischeteau L'Envers de la chanson : des enfants au travail 1850-1950 Editions Les 400 coups Author and photographer: André Leblanc The English language awards ceremony will be held in Toronto on Monday October 15. As with the French language award, the winning book receives $20,000 and there is $10,000 to divide amongst the honour books. The English language finalists are: I Found a Dead Bird: The Kids' Stanley's Wild Ride Guide to the Cycle of Kids Can Press Life & Death Author: Linda Bailey Maple Tree Press Illustrator: Bill Slavin Author: Jan Thornhill Johnny Kellock Died Today Rex Zero and the End of the World HarperCollins Canada Groundwood Books Author: Hadley Dyer Author: Tim Wynne-Jones Odd Man Out Groundwood Books Author: Sarah Ellis TD Community Giving: Making a Difference Together Children's health, literacy and education, and the environment are the three primary areas of focus for TD's community giving.
