TD Canada Trust gives Atlantic Canadians more hours to bank, so they can spend their free time the way they want
- Survey to mark TD Canada Trust's longer hours and the hour most Canadians gain this weekend, shows that if Atlantic Canadians were given an extra hour, reading would be their number one choice, followed closely by sleeping - Starting today, branches in Atlantic Canada now open on average 6 more hours a week and TD Canada Trust now open on average 50% longer than the other banks - National branch giveaways include gas cards, free coffee and paper, gift cards, chance to win flat screen TV (details below) - New longer hours at TD Canada Trust the equivalent of 190 new branches across Canada HALIFAX, Nov. 1 /CNW/ - Today is the day that TD Canada Trust branches across Atlantic Canada switch over to extended hours of operation. On average, branches in the region will be open 6 more hours a week. Newfoundland and Labrador branches will stay open an average of 8 more hours; Nova Scotia and New Brunswick 7 more hours; and Prince Edward Island 2 more hours. Under the banner "open 8 'til late - six days straight" the bank that already had the longest hours in Canada is now open for business even longer - the equivalent of opening 190 new branches across the country. To help celebrate the launch of its new even longer hours, as well as the extra hour most of us get from the switch to Standard Time this weekend, TD Canada Trust commissioned Ipsos Reid to ask Canadians what they'd do with an extra hour in the day. What would Atlantic Canadians do? 26% say reading, outpacing all of Canada in this choice. Their next choice of activity would be sleeping, at 24%. Number three is schoolwork, volunteer activities or housework. At 16% in this category, they again lead all other regions and outpace the national average of 12%. Further down the list for Atlantic Canadians are spending an extra hour with family or children (10%), and resting and relaxing (7%). The only province less inclined to rest and relax is British Columbia, at 6%. The telephone survey was conducted among 1001 randomly selected Canadians between Sept 16th and September 18th, 2007. Overall results are accurate to +/-3.10 percentage points, nineteen times out of twenty. "However Atlantic Canadians like to spend their time, we know worrying about banking isn't high on the list. Having more hours to choose from means customers can choose a time that's convenient for them. That's what we mean when we say TD Canada Trust has people hours, not banker's hours," said Tim Hockey, Group Head TD Personal Banking, Co-Chair TD Canada Trust. The launch of new hours at TD Canada Trust is being supported by a major advertising campaign on television, in major dailies, and on billboards across Canada. In-branch promotions will include the following customer giveaways: - On November 3rd, $10 PetroCanada gas cards will be handed out to the first 25 customers - The week of November 5th, the first 40 customers will get a coupon for Tim Horton's and a newspaper. - The week of November 12th, the first 25 customers will receive a $10 Indigo/Chapters gift card and/or a reusable shopping bag. - The week of November 19th, during the first hour open, everyone will get the chance to win a flat screen television - one per branch Consistently recognized as the best in customer service by Synovate and J.D.
