Media Advisory - TD Canada Trust reveals the winners of one of Canada's top academic scholarships
    Congratulating 20 exceptional students for their efforts inside and out
    of the classroom
    OTTAWA, April 30 /CNW/ - Join TD Canada Trust to honour 20 of Canada's
most impressive high school students as they are awarded the prestigious TD
Canada Trust Scholarships for Community Leadership. Now in its 12th year, this
year's exclusive scholarships will be awarded to students who have shown
leadership through their work in a variety of areas, including local
employment programs, environmental cleanups, support groups and family service
initiatives. One of the top scholarship programs in Canada, the TD Canada
Trust Scholarships for Community Leadership awards students full
post-secondary tuition, $5,000 a year toward living expenses and an offer of
summer employment at TD Canada Trust for up to four years - a total value of
up to $60,000 each.
    Just a few of the initiatives this year's winners have taken on include:
the formation of a volunteer translation service for new immigrants seeking
employment; the development of a lie detector test with an accuracy of 100 per
cent; and the creation of a group that partners with local businesses to deal
with a variety of environmental issues.
    WHAT:  Homegrown leaders will be recognized for their academic
           achievements and outstanding contributions in communities across
           Canada.
