Media Advisory: Winner of TD Canadian Children's Literature Award to be revealed on November 6
TORONTO, Nov. 3 /CNW/ -
WHAT: The Canadian Children's Book Centre (CCBC) and TD Bank
Financial Group (TDBFG) will announce the winner of the fourth
annual TD Canadian Children's Literature Award for the most
distinguished English-language book of the year at a ceremony
in Toronto on November 6. The winning author will receive
$20,000 - one of the largest prizes of its kind for children's
literature in Canada. The remaining finalists will share a
$10,000 award.
The winners of the Norma Fleck Award for Canadian Children's
Non-Fiction, Marilyn Baillie Picture Book Award and the
Geoffrey Bilson Award for Historical Fiction for Young People
will also be announced.

Media are welcome to attend the event. TD Canadian Children's Literature
Award nominees and winner will be available for interviews following the
ceremony.
The TD Canadian Children's Literature Award for the most distinguished
French-language book of the year was presented in Montreal on October 29, 2008
to author Gilles Vigneault and illustrator Stéphane Jorisch for Un Cadeau pour
Sophie (A Gift for Sophie).
The TD Canadian Children's Literature Award recognizes excellence in
children's literature with $20,000 for the most distinguished book written in
English and $20,000 for the most distinguished book written in French. All
books, in any genre, written by a Canadian for children ages one through 12
were eligible for the awards. Entries were judged on the quality of the text
and illustrations and the book's overall contribution to literature.
