Media Advisory/Photo Opportunity - The 2007 TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup Kicks-Off in Montreal on September 12, 2007
To help protect Canada's environment, Biodôme and the Biosphère invite
local media to learn about the effects of garbage left over during the
summer
TORONTO, Sept. 12 /CNW/ -
WHAT: To help kick start this year's nationwide cleanup event, the
Vancouver Aquarium, TD Bank Financial Group, the Montreal
Biodôme and Environment Canada's Biosphère are joining forces
to showcase a collection of shoreline litter recently removed
from Montreal's shorelines. Spokespeople will be on hand to
discuss the effects that shoreline litter has on our
environment.
The TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup was created by the
Vancouver Aquarium and has been operating for more than 12
years. Today, it is one of the largest conservation initiatives
in the country. With a record number of registrations this
year, participants will clean up more than 1,000 shorelines
along rivers, streams, lakes, oceans and wetlands in every
region of Canada from September 15 through 23, 2007. All data
collected on the shorelines across Canada is tallied by the
Vancouver Aquarium.
After the exclusive media event on September 12th, Montrealers
are invited to participate in a public shoreline cleanup co-
organized by the Biodôme and the Biosphère that will take place
on Saturday, September 15th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at
the André-Corbeil-dit-Tranchemontagne Park in Rivière-des-
Prairies. Media are welcome.
