TORONTO, Aug. 25 /CNW/ - Whether it's to purchase books, help pay rent or feed that late night pizza craving, TD Canada Trust will make life easier for twelve lucky students with the TD Canada Trust Money Lounge Cash for Comfort contest. Kicking off today and running until October 13, 2008, Canada's most comfortable bank wants Canadian students to tell them how $2,000 would make their lives more comfortable. "The TD Money Lounge is about helping students deal with the stresses of money and budgeting and, since we launched it in 2007, it's become a very popular source of information on these topics for thousands of students," said Su McVey, Vice President, Customer Segments and Strategy. "The TD Canada Trust Money Lounge Cash for Comfort contest is a way to have a bit of fun while helping out some lucky students. And the best part is that friends and family can vote for the winners." Students must create a one minute or less video explaining why they should win $2,000 and how it would help make their lives more comfortable. Once it is accepted, a link to the video will be emailed to the entrant. The link can be sent to friends and family to help encourage votes for their submission and fans of the page can place their votes directly through the TD Money Lounge page on Facebook. The TD Money Lounge, which currently has over 12,000 fans, gives students the opportunity to ask for and give advice to their peers. Discussions range from money topics like accessing cash in a foreign country and dealing with student debt, to other areas of interest, like Canada's Virgin Rock Festivals, finding student scholarships, and making green friendly choices. To help students ease back into school this fall, the TD Money Lounge is offering useful, interactive tools: - Cover Your Costs application - an interactive tool to help students budget for the upcoming year. By answering a few questions on spending habits and lifestyle a budget is generated and compared to those of four students currently attending university or college. - Split it application - an interactive tool to help roommates keep track of bills and how much they owe. - Live Huge, Spend Little section features tips on saving money from buying used books to making a grocery list before going shopping. In addition to the five grand prizes awarded on October 20, a panel of judges will choose a winner from the submitted videos each Wednesday, starting September 3 until and including October 15, for one of seven $500 prizes. Entrants must be legal residents of Canada currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an approved Canadian university or college on a full-time or part-time basis. Entrants and voters must be fans of the TD Money Lounge on Facebook. There is no fee to join Facebook, become a fan of the TD Money Lounge or enter the contest.
